  • A man in Ibiza gets into trouble in a bar and, in an attempt to escape the police, jumps into the water
What was initially reported to the Local Police of Ibiza as an altercation with an agitated man in a city centre establishment ended with the man swimming calmly in the sea at Ibiza Port. According to the National Police report, the incident occurred shortly before 17:00 on Tuesday. Several Local Police officers in the vicinity of Santa Eulàlia Avenue were approached by a fast food restaurant employee who reported that an individual was throwing furniture and objects at staff. The agents immediately went to the restaurant, where they found the alleged perpetrator on the terrace. Seeing the police officers, the man fled towards the Ibiza Maritime Station. When it seemed that the chase was over and the man had been cornered by several officers, he jumped into the sea. At that moment the maritime traffic was completely stopped to avoid possible injuries, which caused delays in the journeys of two vessels, one from Trasmapi and the other from Baleària. According to the agents in the report, the man «remained d
  • Las Dalias celebrates local produce with a 'showcooking' together with Sabors d'Eivissa and Pimeef
This Saturday July 12th, Las Dalias is hosting a new edition of Discover the Taste of Ibiza, a day organised together with Sabors d'Eivissa and Pimeef to showcase local agri-food products and the work of the island's small and medium-sized businesses. During the morning, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., free tastings and live showcookings will be offered, with the aim of bringing the local gastronomic potential closer to the public and raising awareness of the value of zero-kilometre products. The event forms part of Las Dalias' summer programme of activities, which this year celebrates four decades as one of Ibiza's most iconic cultural venues. The programme will continue with the Night Market, taking place from 18:00 to 23:30 on Sunday 13th, Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th July. The Night Market will bring together over a hundred stalls selling independent designs, local fashion, handmade jewellery and contemporary art, all set against a backdrop of live music, gastronomy and a multicultural vibe. On Monday July 14th
  • Residents of Can Rova 2 move to a nearby forest in view of the imminent eviction of the settlement
The imminent eviction of Can Rova 2 on 15 July has led some of its inhabitants to seek refuge in the adjoining forest, in Puig d'en Negre, a natural area of difficult access that presents a high risk of fire due to the large accumulated forest mass. For several days now, people working in the area and local residents have noticed individuals wandering among the pine trees and constructing makeshift shelters from plastic and other materials. This week, several shacks have appeared, confirming the stable presence of several occupants. The situation is particularly worrying because of the danger posed by any carelessness in a wooded area full of dry pine trees, fallen branches and a blanket of leaf litter that turns the environment into a natural powder keg. Added to this is the presence of hazardous waste such as asbestos residues and metal sheets, which could aggravate the consequences of a fire. The memory of the fire that affected Can Rova 2 just a fortnight ago is still present and raises fears that history co
